Team USA advances five more boxers at 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational

Day two concluded in Pueblo and Team USA with another impressive day as the team went 5-2 at the 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational.
In session one, Terry Washington (San Bernardino, Calif.) went up against Rogen Ladon from the Philippines. Washington fell the first-round 5-0 and looked to have a spark entering the second round. Washington using his speed and hooks took three of the judges’ scorecards. In the third round Washington did enough to grab the win as he got two 10-8 scores from judges and won the round 4-1. He won the bout on a 3-1 victory.
Dedrick Crocklem (Tacoma, Wash.) and Robby Gonzales (Las Vegas, Nev.) secured Team USA next two wins on a unanimous decision. Crocklem fell the first round 3-2 to Criztian P. Laurente out of the Philippines but came out firing the next two rounds. The Washington native with a lot of grit and grind followed the first round and went and took every scorecard from all judges. Gonzales, like Crocklem, fell the first round 3-2 and came out the corner much more energized and determined in the second round. The 2021 World Champion boxer, landing multiple blows to the 2024 Olympic Games qualified boxer out of Australia, Callum Peters. Gonzales won 4-1 and 5-0 in the final two rounds securing his unanimous decision victory.
Amir Anderson (Syracuse, N.Y.) wasthe last American boxer in the first session and picked up right where his fellow teammates left off and won on a unanimous decision. Anderson with one of the more impressive wins today as he won the first round 5-0 including a 10-7 scorecard and the other four judges scoring it a 10-8. Anderson received 10-8 scores from every judge except 2 in the final two rounds. Anderson won with two 30-25 scorecards, two 30-24 scorecards and a 30-23 scorecard.
In the evening session Keon Davis made his international debut and defeated 4 Wanderson de Oliveira out of Brazil. Davis took every round 4-1. The Virginia native boxer had an impressive bout and used his left jab and faints to take his first win of the tournament and advance to fight another day.
Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Mill, Md.) and Danel Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) both fell short yesterday. Harvey usually competing in 57 kg, fought up this tournament at 63.5 kg and put up a good fight but lost 4-1 to Patris Mughalzai out of Great Britain. Brown made his international debut against Keno Machado out of Brazil and fought all the way until the final bell but lost 4-1 as well against the qualified boxer.
