SUBJECT: 2003 Combined Officials and Elite Coaches Clinic
USA Boxing would like to invite your LBC to participate in the 2003 Combined Clinic. This year USA Boxing will be providing each LBC the opportunity to send one official and one coach to Colorado Springs for this groundbreaking event. The Combined Clinic will be designed to give each group their own time to learn, along with a chance to learn together. Arrival day for all participants will be Thursday, August 28. The clinic will end on September 1. Departure for all participants is scheduled for September 2.
The purpose of this Combined Clinic is three-fold:
1. To further educate and better equip officials and coaches to render the best possible decision for our boxers and give them the best possible instruction.
2. To better equip officials and coaches as clinicians and develop a consistency in certification programs across the USA.
3. To provide assistance to the LBC with compliance of their officials and coaches clinics.
The target audience for officials is as follows:
- First-timers only, no repeaters from the last Train the Trainer - Must be a Level 2 or Level 3 Official and 2003 USA Boxing member - Must be able to stand up in front of his/her peers and present clinic materials - Must be able to attend entire seminar
The target audience for coaches is as follows:
- Must be a current Level 2, Level 3 or Level 4 coach and 2003 USA Boxing member - Must be able to stand up in front of his/her peers and present clinic materials utilizing an Overhead or LCD Projector - Must be able to attend entire seminar
USA Boxing will cover transportation, meals and housing for one official and one coach per LBC. If the individual is driving, mileage will be reimbursed at a cost of 20 cents per mile, round trip, up to a total of the price of an airline ticket or $350 (whichever is lower). Additional individuals may attend the seminar at their own cost, to include transportation, meals and housing. The host hotel for this event is the Rodeway Inn, 719-471-0990.
The LBC President and LBC Chief of Officials need to agree on the official that will represent the LBC. The LBC President will choose the coach that will represent the LBC. Registration forms are enclosed with this mailing and will only be accepted with an LBC President signature. The forms must be returned to the USA Boxing office no later than August 5, 2003. Housing is limited, so please reply by this date. LBC's that do not reply by August 5 will forfeit their ability to send participants, no exceptions.
It is mandatory that the coaches bring their Coaching Olympic Style Boxing Manual to the clinic. If they do not have one or forget to bring theirs, they will be available for purchase at the clinic for $30 each.
Please inform officials that Level III testing will be given and coaches that Level III and Level IV testing will be administered this year. Everyone will also need to bring along some work out clothes for part of the clinic.
USA Boxing will make all airline reservations. It is very important that the participant's closest airport is listed and if there are any special requirements needed.
