Dominic Dewey Dehon Littleton passed away on December 20, 2004 from a gunshot wound to the head. Littleton, or Cold Black, as he was known to his many friends, was a top amateur boxer and traveled through the United States competing. Littleton was the 2003 Under 19 Championships silver medalist in addition to owning many local and state titles.
Early in life Dominic and his brother Antwon were residents at the Buckner Terrace Foster Home. The Littleton family of Oak Cliff then became foster parents and eventually adopted both brothers. Despite a difficult childhood, Littleton excelled in numerous sports and later in life began boxing under Coach Greg Hatley and the Oak Cliff Boxing Club. The sport of amateur boxing had a tremendous and positive impact on Littleton who became the heart of the Oak Cliff Boxing Club. The Hatleys were a surrogate family for Dominic who began to excel in school after becoming a part of the Oak Cliff Boxing Team. Littleton competed in the 2004 Western Trials in the hopes of qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Team Trials, but was eliminated by 2004 Olympian Vicente Escobedo.
Littleton had a tremendous and caring heart and his outstanding humor spirit were felt by all around him. He will be tremendously missed.
Dominic’s family and his teammates at the gym are struggling to provide Dominic with the service he deserves to commemorate the life of such a talented and promising young man who left this world much too soon. Donations are requested in lieu of flowers and can be sent to: Oak Cliff Boxing Club, Greg Hatley, 2126 56th Street, Dallas, TX 75241.
