FEATHERWEIGHT LUIS DEL VALLE AND MIDDLEWEIGHT ESTRADA RECORD VICTORIES IN A CONSOLATION BOX-OFF
(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Featherweight Luis Del Valle (Newburgh, N.Y.) and middleweight Shawn Estrada (Lynwood, Calif.) recorded victories at a consolation box-off on Sunday afternoon in Colorado Springs, Colo.  Fort Carson hosted the short two-bout event with officials from Colorado serving at the unique event.

Del Valle took on fellow 2006 U.S. Championships bronze medalist Johnny Ray Narvaez (Hollywood, Fla.) in their four round match-up. It is the first berth on the USA Boxing Elite Team for both Narvaez and Del Valle although Del Valle holds both a National Golden Gloves and Under 19 National Championship.

Estrada faced a familiar foe in 2005 national champion and fellow 2006 U.S. Championships middleweight bronze medalist Edwin Rodriguez (Worcester, Mass.). Estrada recorded a victory over Rodriguez to take the number three spot.

Both Del Valle and Estrada won spots on the 2006 Ken Goff Tournament team. The duo will travel to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada for the event, which will take place, May 9-14.

The box-off took place at the first elite training camp of 2006 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
