USA BOXING MOURNS THE LOSS OF PAT DUFFY AND TRUMAN TUTTLE
USA Boxing lost two great advocates to the sport as Pat Duffy and Truman Tuttle passed away in November.

Francis “Pat” Duffy was a legend in the Philadelphia boxing scene after opening a boxing gym for amateur boxing in South Philadelphia in 1936. A former USA/ABF Board Member, Duffy was the team manager for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and served as team manager for numerous international events. Yet his involvement on the local level will be remembered most by the young boxers at the gym he ran for decades. A member of the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame, he dedicated over 50 years to the sport he loved including serving as president of the Middle Atlantic LBC as well as chair of the Convention and Awards committee. He passed away due to stroke-related illness on November 19.

Truman E. Tuttle dedicated over 40 years to the sport of boxing, beginning in 1965 when he began coaching boxing, football and baseball at the Lanham Boys Club. He trained boxers at the Hillcrest Heights Boxing Gym in 1971 before becoming Tournament Director, President and Franchise Director for the Washington DC Golden Gloves in 1988. His involvement extended to the national level in 2000 when he became President of the National Golden Gloves of America, a position he held until 2006. He spent thousands of hours working as a volunteer coach and representing Washington DC area athletes and boxers nationwide, but never thought of it as work.
