USA Boxing Provides Statement on Former USA Boxing Member

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Aug. 31, 2026)- On May 14, 2025, at 7:28 a.m., USA Boxing received an initial report regarding potential SafeSport allegations involving Jose Garcia. Consistent with USA Boxing policy and the U.S. Center for SafeSport reporting process, USA Boxing immediately reported the matter to the U.S. Center for SafeSport through its reporting portal that same day. On May 15, 2025, the U.S. Center for SafeSport accepted exclusive jurisdiction over the matter.
On July 14, 2025, the U.S. Center for SafeSport exercised jurisdiction over the matter. Consistent with the Center’s action and applicable USA Boxing policies, Garcia was placed under temporary administrative measures prohibiting his participation in USA Boxing activities. Specifically, Garcia was prohibited from participating, in any capacity, in any event, program, activity, or competition authorized by, organized by, conducted under the auspices of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), USA Boxing or any National Governing Body (NGB) recognized by the USOPC, any Local Affiliated Organization (USA Boxing Local Boxing Committee-LBC) as defined by the SafeSport Code, or at any facility under the jurisdiction of the same.
In July 2026, USA Boxing was subsequently notified of Garcia’s arrest in Texas. Garcia was/is not a current member of USA Boxing, however his status was changed from Temporary administrative measures to suspend per the U.S. Center for Safe Sport directive
Out of respect for potential survivors and because this matter remains under the jurisdiction of law enforcement and the U.S. Center for SafeSport, USA Boxing will have no further comment on this matter. USA Boxing will continue to cooperate fully with the Center and law enforcement as appropriate.
Inquiries regarding the criminal matter should be directed to the appropriate law enforcement authorities. Inquiries regarding SafeSport jurisdiction or disciplinary status should be directed to the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
