Zaur Antia named USA Boxing National Technical Coach

Zaur Antia has been named the USA Boxing National Technical Coach, effective immediately, USA Boxing announced on Wednesday.

"Zaur’s impact on Irish boxing was extraordinary. Between the Beijing and London Olympic Games, Ireland won seven Olympic medals. Zaur brings world-class technical and tactical expertise that will help our team continue to grow and become one of the best teams in the world," Billy Walsh, the USA Boxing National Team Head Coach, stated.

Coach Antia brings over 23 years of coaching experience, including work with three federations and at World Championships and multiple Olympic Games. Antia was formerly the High Performance Lead and Head Boxing Coach for Ireland, where he led the team to over 100 international medals, including multiple medals at the Olympic Games and World Championships.

“We are thrilled to welcome Zaur to our coaching staff as National Technical Coach. His extensive experience in international Olympic-style boxing and track record of developing boxers to a world-class level will make a big difference in supporting our mission of becoming the number one nation in the world at the LA28 Olympics," stated USA Boxing High Performance Director, Matt Johnson.

With Ireland, Coach Antia led the team to 10 Olympic medals, including three gold, two silver, and five bronze. On top of the 10 Olympic medals, Antia brings World Championship experience, having coached 20 boxers to World Championship medals, including one gold and two bronze medals at the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, England.

USA Boxing’s National Technical Coach is responsible for assisting USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Team and Squad, while traveling to international competitions and serving as a key coaching member. Antia will play a crucial role in developing future Olympic hopefuls for the organization’s High Performance teams.
