USA Boxing’s Board of Directors Independent Director and Chairperson, Tyson Lee, announced that he will step down as Chairman.

“After careful consideration, I made the decision to step down as Chairman,” Stated Lee in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. USA Boxing is stronger today, financially, operationally, and from a membership standpoint, than at any point in its history.

“Over the past seven and a half years, I have had the privilege of serving alongside dedicated Board members, staff, coaches, and athletes who have all played a role in moving this organization forward. Together, we guided USA Boxing through one of the most successful periods in its history, including record membership growth, the strongest financial position the organization has ever achieved, and a significant expansion of our sponsorship base.

“I want to personally thank our membership and the many Board members who have served with dedication and integrity. Your commitment, along with the tireless work of our staff, has been instrumental in advancing the sport. I am also deeply grateful to the USA Boxing Foundation and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee for their continued support and guidance. That collective effort has played a critical role in ensuring that amateur Olympic-style boxing remains part of the Olympic Games.”

Lee was elected President of the USA Boxing Board of Directors in 2019 and re-elected in 2020, serving in the role since then.

During his time with USA Boxing, Lee supported efforts focused on good governance and problem-solving to strengthen leadership and help advance the organization’s goals, including maintaining boxing’s place in the Olympic Games.

Before serving as president, Lee had a career in pharmaceutical and insurance sales, then started his own industrial contracting business in Alabama. He was introduced to boxing at a young age and trained with friends in his neighborhood.

He later boxed at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he had only four losses over four years. He continued competing during his Army service, winning three state titles in Hawaii while serving with the 25th Infantry Division.
