Being a committee member for the Georgia Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) can be an excellent way to contribute to the growth and development of the sport in your community. Here are some reasons why I am interested in joining the GABA committee:

By being a part of the committee, I can contribute to designing programs, competitions, and training opportunities that nurture the skills and potential of young boxers.

I can actively work to ensure that proper regulations, equipment, and medical care are provided at events. Moreover, I can advocate for fair judging, integrity, and disciplinary actions when necessary, instilling a sense of trust and professionalism within the sport.
5. Build Relationships and Networks: Joining the committee provides an opportunity to connect with fellow boxing enthusiasts, coaches, athletes, and officials. By building relationships and networks within the boxing community, I can learn from others, share ideas, and collaborate to create a stronger foundation for the sport.
6. Personal Growth and Skill Development: Serving on the GABA committee can also help me develop various personal and professional skills. I can enhance my leadership abilities, organizational expertise, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving capabilities. These skills can be valuable not only within the realm of amateur boxing but also in other areas of your life.
7. Give Back to the Sport: If you have a deep passion for boxing and want to give back to the sport that has shaped me, joining the committee is an excellent way to do so. It allows me to be actively involved in the sport I love and make a positive impact on its future.
Ultimately, the specific reasons to join the GABA committee may vary based on personal interests, experiences, and goals. Being a part of the committee can be incredibly rewarding, providing opportunities to contribute, learn, connect, and make a lasting impact on the sport of amateur boxing in Georgia.

Secretary#
Run-offs: Sheik Charles Brown-EL, Shakisha Trigg, Tiffany Cannon
I have volunteered as a Coach and Official for USA Boxing since 2015. I am the current Secretary for the LBC and since being the Secretary I have made communication among the membership very transparent and easily susceptible.
I am interested in serving on the board of my local boxing committee for several reasons that align with my background and qualifications:
My involvement in the boxing community runs deep. As a co-owner of a boxing gym with my husband, who is an ex-professional boxer, I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact boxing can have on individuals and communities. I am deeply passionate about the sport and its potential to instill discipline, confidence, and a sense of belonging in athletes.
My role as a volunteer USA Boxing official has provided me with valuable insights into the regulatory and administrative aspects of the sport. I have dedicated time to increase my knowledge and skills, reaching Level II Official status. This experience has not only honed my understanding of the rules and regulations governing boxing but has also given me a unique perspective on the challenges faced by our local boxing committee (LBC).
I have a history of involvement with non-profit organizations, including my church and USA Boxing. This experience has allowed me to develop strong organizational and leadership skills. I understand the importance of effective governance, transparency, and community engagement in non-profit organizations, and I am committed to applying these principles to benefit our LBC.
My degree in computer information systems and my studies in business have equipped me with a solid foundation in technology and management. I believe these skills can be particularly useful for the Secretary position within our LBC. Effective record-keeping, communication, and data management are crucial aspects of board work, and I am well-prepared to handle these responsibilities.
Beyond my educational background, I have owned various businesses over the years. This experience has taught me the importance of fiscal responsibility, strategic planning, and adaptability, all of which are valuable traits for a board member. I am accustomed to making data-driven decisions and working collaboratively to achieve goals.
Commitment and Dedication: I am highly committed to the success of our local boxing committee. My involvement in the boxing community is not just a hobby; it's a lifelong passion that I want to leverage to contribute positively to the growth and development of our LBC. I am dedicated to serving the best interests of our athletes, coaches, and the broader community.
In summary, my background in boxing, my experience as a USA Boxing official, my non-profit involvement, my educational qualifications, entrepreneurial mindset, and commitment to the sport make me a well-rounded candidate for a board position on my local boxing committee. I am excited about the opportunity to serve and contribute to the continued success and growth of our LBC.
I am currently serving as Assistant Secretary and Fundraising Chairman for GABA. I have assisted in creating programs and funding for the GABA to help our youth throughout the state of Georgia. Since starting with GABA in January, I have raise $4000 in grants with several more pending, created a youth program called F.I.G.H.T, and assisted with organization of a boxing tournament. I am also an official for GABA that loves to travel to boxing matches when I am available. I enjoy volunteering my time to help Georgia be on top and stay strong.
I understand the workings of a non-profit organization and its purpose. I have been volunteering at the Augusta Boxing Club, which is a non-profit, for over 10 years. I currently serve as the Executive Coordinator. I am responsible for research, writing, and applying for grants and sponsorships; organizing sanctioned boxing events, fundraisers, and community events; and assisting with enrollment of new members. I have raised well over $400,000 through grants and sponsorships for our gym, coaches, staff, and boxers to attend and host boxing and community events. With help from the director of the Augusta Boxing Club, we have started traditions in our community that our youth, parents, teachers, and County leaders look forward to attending and supporting like our annual book bag drive and our boxing show Fight of the Hearts.
I want to take my passion and love I have for boxing to continue to assist the GABA. I want to continue to finds ways to support the young men and women who train day in and day out so they can show off their craft, visit colleges, technical and trade schools, and much more. I am organized, have keen verbal and written skills, knowledge of non-profits, ability to create and organize fundraisers, and most importantly the want and will power to want to see our youth grow in and outside of the ring. By voting me back in as secretary, I will continue to strive and work hard if not harder to show the world who GABA is.
Treasurer #
I was introduced to boxing in my youth. In high school I participated in AAU boxing in the Midwest and boxed while enlisted in the Army. Upon retirement from the US Department of Agriculture, I needed a worthwhile cause to occupy my free time.
I have been a USA boxing official for seven years actively supporting GABA. I am a level 3 Referee/Judge, and am certified as an Official Clinician, and Official in Charge. I am currently ranked as one of the top 15 USA Boxing Officials in the Nation and have been since 2019. Achieving National recognition requires dedication, and the desire to learn and grow. To the Coaches and Officials that know me; you are aware of my level of participation in the LBC, my tactful approach and commitment to fairness and neutrality in the sport.
As Treasurer I shall reinstate transparency and accountability of GABA funds for all stakeholders. The lack of stakeholder meetings with the Board of Directors has eliminated transparency in finances and actions of the Board of Directors.
Thank you for considering me as a candidate for GABA Treasurer.
Sincerely,
Scott Ladely
I’m presently in position and there are projects that still need work to complete!
Chief of Officials#
Run-offs: Leonard Harris, Scott R. Ladely
I have loved the sport of boxing since my youth. In high school I participated in AAU boxing in the Midwest and boxed while enlisted in the Army. Fast forward forty years; upon retirement from the US Department of Agriculture, I needed a worthwhile cause to occupy my newfound free time.
I owe a dept of gratitude to my mentors and peers assisting me in this journey.
As Chief of Officials I would like to provide others with opportunities in development as R/J Officials and encourage those certified as Clinicians and as Official in Charge, to become more involved in these responsibilities. To the Officials that know me; you are aware of my level of participation in the LBC, my tactful approach and commitment to neutrality in the sport. For the Officials that do not know me, I look forward to seeing you at future GABA events, we truly need the support.
Thank you for considering me as a candidate for GABA Chief of Officials.
Sincerely,
Scott Ladely
After being affiliated with USA Boxing as a Coach and Official since 2012, I continue to have the growing urge to elevate the people affiliated with the LBC as an official and more recently the Chief of Officials. If elected I will continue to lead from the front and train all members of our LBC to the best of my capabilities in regard to all rules and regulations in accordance with-in USA Boxing.
Commitment to Ethical Conduct: I seek to cultivate a non-toxic environment and healthy leadership within the Georgia Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) and USA Boxing (USAB). As GABA Chief of Officials (COO), I will continue upholding the Official's Creed and Code of Ethics to develop membership education and training in the highest standards of solid integrity and overall quality of boxing. I will promote wellness, regular meetings, ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability in public service through a 4-year plan that includes collaborative initiatives with national and international officials and teams carrying out dynamic strategies from grassroots preparations to elite competitions, testing, and seminars.
Transparency and Accountability: After 23 years as a loyal, certified Official, I still invest in a non-toxic environment with healthy GABA and USAB leadership. I emulate how a healthy support system is crucial for membership to prevent burnout from behaviors leading to a toxic environment. Being the first woman in the sport to receive the "Outstanding National Golden Gloves (GG) Referee Award," I have witnessed how vital open, frequent feedback and innovations are to overcoming that environment and fostering a healthy boxing culture. I would also encourage the standard of detailed information to consistently return to the calendar vital for participating, including event time, location, ticketing information, and more for GABA membership planning purposes.
Professional Development, Collaboration, and Cooperation: Effective leadership requires a growth mindset, collaboration, and cooperation among members at all levels. I will invest in best practices for expanding our Certified Officials In Charge, ultimately leading to higher-level leadership. I aim for comprehensive training programs and effective policies to foster a culture of trust and professionalism for the Boxers. Being inclusive of athletes and coaches, we can continue to nurture officials dedicated to serving the public interest, making us better prepared to serve on the regional, national, and international levels effectively.
Public Interest Focus: I will encourage our leadership team to provide financial support from the GABA Board of Directors (BOD) and tournament hosts for essential help for officials (e.g., per diem, gas reimbursements, lodging, travel accommodations, etc.). We can increase attendance at seminars, tournaments, regular Clinics, and mini Clinics to engage and improve officials, coaches, and boxers through developmental experiences and educational opportunities. Encouraging regional and Elite-level experiences can help restore high-quality GABA membership participation and maintain public trust in the integrity of holding officials accountable.
