Indiana

I am interested in the position of President of our LBC as I have worked alongside my mentor Vicki Elder for many years to ensure that Indiana amateur boxing is the best that it can be. I have dedicated more than 15 years to amateur boxing, USA Boxing and Indiana LBC. I am a self-motivated and determined person that communicate and work with others very well. For the past few years, I have stepped into the leadership role for Indiana assisting our current president to run our LBC while holding the position of COO Chief of Officials, OIC of most events and Clinician. I am devoted to the goal of moving Indiana in the right direction and make sure that my all members are familiar and do follow the rules, policies and procedures according to USA Boxing current rulebook.
I’ve been involved with boxing all my life. I was the vice president for the last 2 terms and would like to continue volunteering my services to a sport that I love!

I am seeking the position of secretary of the Indiana LBC to be of service to the boxers, athletes and officials of our organization. I have worked as an event coordinator for a non profit for seven years and also served as an assistant to the executive director during those seven years. I have experience in fund raising, operation board meetings, scheduling and planning. I have very strong organizational and communication skills and pride myself on my attention to detail. My first priority as secretary would be prompt response to the needs of the membership. I've started boxing at 9 years old and at that time is when I started sharing, teaching, an coaching the kids younger than me...how it was done! I signed up early while I was still in high school to join the army! I continued boxing for the next 10 year and coached boxing for the army my entire 20 years while serving! I've implemented several boxing programs in communities where it was desperately needed! I've volunteered at YMCA's, Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as private organizations Most of them were in low-income and impovished area's and neighborhoods! I became interested in officiating from all the trips, traveling, and tournaments that my teams had participated in! My mentors was the late great Ret.Col. Ronald "Woodie" Woodward out of South Texas LBC. Also, mentored by one of the best, Kevin, ANGEL, and Kevina Franklin! I am a retired public educator of 38 years, teaching, showing, sharing, and demonstrating are my natural attributes! Officiating has become my second nature! I travel immensely officiating all over the country! (Mostly, where ever I'm invited and the other part of me saliciting and offering to be of assistance or service!) I'm titled by lots of my fellow officials as the "Traveling Official" There's no place I won't go! I've been here well over a year in Indy and I've participated in 90% of shows, events, and tournaments throughout our state, including the regionals and nationals! I've successfully passed the OIC course...which would enhance my knowledge for myself as well as educating and informing boxers, coaches, and officials! I'm committed to putting forth the effort to retain officials as well as continually recruiting for more new or experienced officials! (I have six people very interested in coming on our side...no more just spectating!) When we have our next clinic, they will be attending! I've mentored several boxers, coaches, and officials about the importance of reviewing, studying, and reading the R/J and USA Manuals! It's all kinds of good pertanent information about rules, policies, examples for everyone involved in amatuer boxing! I'ts a win win situation, "The more you know, the more you'll do or not do" !
(The 1st of the year, I'll be hosting state to state shows monthly for the sake of generating funds for our LBC and our state!)
Thank you!
"Coach/Official" Thomas, J. E.
