Missouri Valley
President#
I am currently the Vice President of the Mo Valley LBC. I have been involved with amateur boxing as a boxer, coach, official and board member for over 40 years combined. As the President I would like to continue to advance our boxers, coaches and officials to the top levels of USA BOXING. I feel my involvement with boxing will be a good fit for your President . I want to make some changes within our LBC and with your vote I believe the future for our LBC will be better.
I am volunteering for the position of the President of Missouri Valley LBC. I am currently a level II official, the registration chair, and serve on the KC Golden Gloves board of directors. I have attended and officiated at most national USA Boxing and Golden Gloves tournaments for the past 8 years. I am a certified Official in Charge and attend and serve as the OIC for a lot of our local events. Professionally, I have a bachelor’s degree in human relations and am almost complete with my master’s degree in informatics and plan to use this as I work to become an USA Boxing Official Clinician.
My main focus is to advocate for boxers and coaches and am passionate about making decisions based on their best interest. I believe in transparency and being involved on an active board that communicates with its members. I think there should be regular meetings where coaches are welcome so their voices can be heard. One person should not be able to make decisions for an entire LBC. We need to utilize our board members and their votes to make decisions that are inclusive and beneficial for all members. I believe the role of the president is to help facilitate a well-organized, clearly communicated board of directors who will make decisions that will help all boxers, coaches, and officials in our LBC.
If you have ever thought that changes need to be made at the LBC level, now is the time to act. Let’s put some new people in the position to help our LBC, gyms, and boxers grow.
Vice President#
I have been the chair of the Mo. Valley LBC for 46 years, it is time to pass the torch. My working philosophy has always been, what can I do to make this sport as easy as possible for our coaches. I have been very successful because we have never had anyone file a complaint or grievance. We keep the fighting in the ring. I wish to serve in the VPposition so I can utilize my 56 years experience in this sport to help our new president in all possible ways. I am a coach and I will always committed to helping the backbone of our sport, our coaches.
I've been a non-athlete member of USA Boxing since July of 2019. My current certifications include Level II Referee/Judge, RJ Clinician, and Official In Charge as well as Tournament Director for KC Golden Gloves.
I have a proven track record with focus on growing amateur boxing locally and regionally. Of course with growth comes the expectation of change. As an organization grows, it is important a lean and focused approach is at the forefront to implement bigger and better opportunities. I have those skills and more and would appreciate the chance to work with a team sharing common goals to grow our sport.
As a Chief of Staff and Executive Administrator who earned a BS in management degree and opened her own business, I have had the opportunity to partner with many different kinds of organizations both for-profit and nonprofit over the last 8 years. It has been an amazing blessing to provide for my family in a career I cultivated as well as rear my children from home. With over 20 years of business management experience, I have found that when the core principles of open communication, collaborative leadership, sustainable approaches, and intentional strategy are implemented with excellence greater success in maximizing growth, progress, and potential is evident across all levels of the organization. During the pandemic, I was under contract with a large nonprofit organization working within the global innovation team where I managed their entire online division. It was a part of my responsibility to recruit, train, and grow their volunteer base. It is my understanding that the core group is still in existence today thriving. Previous to that I administered a community-based outreach program for youth where my tasks included daily operations, grant writing, fundraising, board functions, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships. My most recent contracts have been managing properties and creating sustainable systems as the interim executive director for a prison ministry with 5 transitional housing units that needed support from their local communities and for a local "hobby farmer" building his dream of a tiny home community. I also have my substitute teaching license and during planned off times of contracts I sub as well as increase my volunteer and ministry opportunities. I love empowering people and partnering with them as they strive toward reaching their goals personal and professional.
I grew up watching boxing with my father. It was 10 years ago when I "discovered" boxing as a personal physical activity and it was no longer a spectator sport for me anymore. Boxing actually gave me a new life. The training was the outlet that became the cornerstone of my healing and recovery journey of transformation from sexual assault victim to survivor. I never intended to compete but was told I should "try" because that was the point of boxing. I trained and sparred intentionally for almost two years to compete, but unfortunately learned the hard way the importance of safety and the necessity of solid appropriate coaching rooted in understanding the rules and guidelines. The recovery time and process of an internal organ injury is lengthy and not much fun.
I have created my own training and wellness program called Quake and I partner with a local gym owner offering customized training plans and personal coaching for those individuals wanting to thrive NOT just survive. I utilize everything I have learned and recently was hired by another gym to offer group sessions.
While being a member of USA Boxing, I have attended 3 coaching clinics and currently hold my silver national-level coaching certificate with USA Boxing. I intend to plan my schedule next year around the possibility of filling out the application to be ready and able if selected to participate as a coach on the High-Performance Team at camp.
I have officiated at many shows in MO Valley and Oklahoma LBCs and am a proficient timekeeper, clerk, judge, and supervisor. I intend to take my OIC test as soon as I meet the first available time requirement. I began refereeing in April of this year and have refereed at 2 national qualifying tournaments, KCGG & KSOKGG, also attended 2 Junior Olympic tournaments and kept time this past summer in Texas.
It would be an honor to serve on the MO Valley LBC leadership board to assist ALL members and volunteers in reaching their goals along their boxing journey. I am smitten with amateur boxing!
Secretary#
Run-offs: Deborah Fitzwater and John Alcala
I would like to be more active within our LBC, I also feel like I can be value added utilizing my communication skills, and business skills.
I am 65 years old and I’m a retiree of Colgate Palmolive with 30 years of service. I am also a state legislator in Kansas. I have Been in office office 31 years. I have volunteered for multi nonprofit organizations. The main organization is the Salvation Army where I put in an average of 20 hours a week. I have held the position of secretary with other nonprofits the latest being neighborhood community garden board I have good organizational skills.
My Degree is Business Administration.
Back in the 80s I had a boxing club in Topeka and also coached an international tour USA vs Russia in Birmingham, Alabama and Biloxi Mississippi, one of the stars on that team was Antonio Tarver and also did multi developmental camps in springs and Marquette Michigan. Also coach the US team in the multi sports fest in Florida.
Three years ago I open the 3 shields boxing program in Topeka, a collaboration with a Topeka Police Department Topeka, fire department and The Topeka, Salvation, Army. We have a very strong young program, i’ve managed to raise almost $60,000 for the club.
Having coached professional boxers and amateurs associated with USA Boxing, I believe it’s time to get more involved administratively and I believe I bring a strong work ethic and desire to help improve the LBC.
I am volunteering for the position of Secretary of the MO Valley LBC. I am currently a level II certified official. I have been officiating for eight years and have attended most boxing shows in our LBC during that time. I have also attended and/or officiated at most National Tournaments including Silver Gloves, National Golden Gloves, and USA Boxing Nationals/Qualifiers. I’ve also attended numerous educational clinics at National events. I also have a seat on the board of the Kansas City Golden Gloves.
I am a steadfast advocate for boxers and coaches and believe that it is a responsibility of the LBC to make decisions that best represent boxers and coaches who are the driving force of the sport. I thoroughly enjoy working closely with the boxing community and assisting in any way that I can. I can be found in a gym nightly, where I witness regularly the massive amount of hard work and dedication of the boxers, and the many sacrifices of the coaches to train and mentor their boxers. It is simply incredible. This is where I get my inspiration to serve.
As a board, I feel like there is a need for full transparency. Ideally, coaches should be welcomed to attend regularly scheduled meetings so that their voices are heard and considered.
It is a time for a change in our LBC; a time to introduce fresh leadership whose only priority and agenda is to support boxers, coaches, gyms, and officials. If you’ve found yourself disgruntled with the current state of affairs in our boxing community this is your opportunity to vote for a change and put like-minded people in place who are excited to work with everyone in the community.

Treasurer#
I've held the treasury position for the past several years and would be happy to continue in the position going forward.
I am a silver level boxing coach, I am a board member for Kansas City golden gloves. I own and operate my own non profit gym, " M & A Youth Athletics" I am also a level 2 official. I have owned two other businesses, and ran a business here in Kansas City for 30 years. Managing and tracking income vs. expenses is something I have over 45 years of experience in. If elected I would really love the opportunity to help bring the LBC into the future regarding the strategies used to promote our LBC events. And look for new opportunities to gain sponsors and donations to help our LBC fighters and families with expenses related to traveling to national events.
Chief of Officials#
I have been the COO for our LBC for many years now. I would like to continue to be the COO because I enjoy volunteering my spare time for the love of the sport and to help out local and national boxing shows. I do it because I love it .
I feel I get along with everyone and try to help out anyone as needed.
I am volunteering my time for this position because I believe our LBC needs new leadership. I have been a Level III official for 12 years. I am currently the #2 ranked official in USA Boxing based on judging, reffing, and testing. I have served on the USA Boxing RJ Commission for the last 7 years. I am a certified OIC and Clinician. For the last three years I have been the RJ Commission liaison for COO's across the country. In this role I have seen what works well for COO's in other LBC's.
I am passionate about judging and reffing and believe we can get boxers and coaches better decisions. I have spent over a month away at national tournaments each of the last few years to become a better official and learn how to train and evaluate judges and referees.
I have conducted multiple clinics locally and nationally and have a desire to recruit and train officials. There are tools at our disposal that we have not fully utilized. We can use these tools to improve officiating. We have a large LBC. We should have sub-cheifs and more OIC's to work events so our existing officials pool does not burn out.
As an LBC Board Member I will work to ensure that all boxers, coaches, and officials are represented, not just a select few. Our current LBC Leadership has abused the sanction approval process with one coach claiming the choice sanction dates up to 18 months in advance and then routinely canceling shows.
Our LBC funds have been spent on a few boxers instead of helping all gyms and growing the sport. I believe we should keep LBC fees low and raise funds through hosting events. These funds could be used to reimburse sanction fees to incent clubs to host shows and get our boxers opportunity for competition.
Our current LBC leadership has not communicated well with clubs and has not followed LBC bylaws. I believe our new LBC Leadership will conduct regular board meetings, communicate well with clubs regarding rules and procedure changes, and serve all boxers and coaches in the LBC.
Rest assured that if I am not elected I will continue to serve boxers and coaches as I have in the past and be supportive of the elected Chief of Officials.
Thank you, Chris Walden.
Athlete Representative#
Run-offs (for 3rd Rep Position): Aaron J Becerra and Ben Turla
I have been fighting for almost eight years. Certain boxing scholarships have helped me afford a college education. I work for a healthcare provider in dietetics to help me further my education so that I can benefit fighters' health in the future. I have coached others in boxing in the gym as well as assisted in running sanctioned venues. This great sport has helped me thrive in other areas of life and I know that I will not be leaving it behind for as long as I live. What I'm looking to do now is help keep the integrity of the sport so that others may find the same benefit I did.
I volunteer coaching at turner I also box on USA boxing’s high performance team.
I am volunteering for the position of Athlete Representative of the MO Valley LBC. I am a boxer, coach, a level II official, serve on the board of the KC Golden Gloves as the Media and Marketing Director and Athlete Representative, serve on the board of Golden Gloves of America as the Media and Marketing Chair and Athlete Representative, and Athlete Representative of the MO Valley LBC. I have attended numerous National events and advocated for boxers, attended clinics to further my knowledge, and observed. I used to sneak in to various meetings at the National level just to learn as much as I could about our sport.
Boxing is my passion. I attend virtually every boxing event in our LBC, whether as a boxer, coach, official, or fan. I have experienced the benefits of boxing as a boxer and vow to pay those benefits forward in any capacity that I can. I would like to see more boxers become involved as Athlete Reps and take an active role in shaping the sport. As boxers, we are directly affected by the policies, rules, and regulations set forth by our LBC’s, and governing bodies of the sport. It is not only in our best interest to participate in these conversations, I feel it is our responsibility. I learned a while ago that if I don’t like the way something is going I can complain about it, essentially solving nothing, or I can become actively involved and educated about the process.
If elected, I will continue to advocate for boxers and coaches and support boxing gyms. I will be dedicated to bringing concerns and issues from boxers to the board so that all of your voices are heard.
Hi, my name is Aaron Becerra. I am from the 2020 graduating class of Shawnee Mission North High School. Currently I am working as a garage door technician for Accelerated Garage Door. I first started boxing in 2018 and continued until 2020, and was able to pick it back up again in February 2023. Since then I have had two amateur fights. I feel I would be a good athlete representative for the Missouri Valley
LBC, because of my commitment and love for boxing. I also volunteer my time to help coach the kids classes on Saturday mornings and during the week. I have a very confident and determined mindset, and I always try to strive towards perfection and staying committed to my craft.
