USA Boxing Statement on Timing Issues at 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing

by USA Boxing

USA Boxing was made aware of timing issues with the first four bouts competed today, Dec. 8, in Ring 2 at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing.

Out of fairness to all parties involved, USA Boxing has determined that the four bouts (women’s 50 kg, men’s 51 kg, women’s 54 kg, women’s 57 kg) will be recontested tomorrow after the final bouts in the remaining weight classes.

Following those results, the final bouts of the four recontested weight classes will be scheduled for January in Colorado Springs, Colo., prior to the start of the USA Boxing High Performance Selection Camp.

While we regret this error and the impact on this competition, USA Boxing is committed to upholding its standards of excellence and maintaining its commitment to fairness to all athletes participating in the Olympic Trials process.

Athletes affected by these timing issues can reach out to the Team USA Athlete Ombudsman Office at ombudsman@usathlete.org or 719-866-5000. Additional information regarding the Athlete Ombuds Office can be found at https://www.usopc.org/athlete-ombuds.
