Team USA vs. Canada Set To Take Place This Week

Team USA is set to take on an exciting showdown against Canada at the Melee Gala IX in Winnipeg, Canada. Team USA will be represented of four members from the Elite High Performance team. Competition will take place Thursday, September 26 and Saturday September 28.


Team USA will compete in their first High Performance competition since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Representing the stars and stripes are Yoseline Perez (Houston, Texas), Lisa Greer (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Francis Stewart (Cleveland, Ohio), and Dustin Jimenez (Rochester, N.Y.).


Perez will step into the ring and represent Team USA at 54 kg, as she looks to gain her first elite international win. The experienced boxer will take on Canada’s Scarlet Delgado, a two-time AMBC Continental Champion. Perez was the 2022 AIBA Youth World Gold Medalist and has the most experience internationally of the four American boxers.


Greer boxing at 57 kg is making her second international competition appearance as she will box Marie Al-Ahmadieh. Greer earned her spot on Team USA by winning the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Al-Ahmadieh won gold at the Brandenburg Cup and represented Canada at the Pan American Games and both Olympic Games World Qualifier tournaments.


As for the males competing, Francis Stewart will return to the international stage as he won bronze in his international debut at the 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational. Stewart eager to return to the international ring will be boxing at 60 kg and will go up against Keoma- Ali Al-Ahmadieh, who won bronze at the 2022 AMBC Tournament.


Jimenez will be making his international and Team USA debut at just 18-years-old. He will go up against a 20-year-old in Omar Zaatiti Alieh in the 65 kg weight class.
