Entering the 2025 calendar year, one of USA Boxing's upcoming stars was Yoseline Perez. The Houston, Texas, native concluded a dominant junior and youth boxing career, which wrapped with a gold medal at the 2022 Youth World Championships.

She made the transition to the elite level and represented Team USA at the Pan American Games, but lost in the first round of competition to Yeni Marcela Arias Castaneda. Perez then returned to the gym and furiously fine-tuned her game before securing a spot on the 2025 USA Boxing Elite High Performance Team earlier this year. Since then, the success has consistently fallen in place for Perez, who has racked up four international medals throughout the year.

While competing in the 54-kilogram division, Perez has become Team USA's most dominant boxer in 2025, and is the lone athlete on this year’s roster to earn a gold or silver medal in all three international competitions. Perez earned a gold medal at the 2025 World Boxing Challenge and a silver medal at each World Boxing Cup event, including the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 and the World Boxing Cup Astana: 2025.

She currently holds an 8-2 international record so far in 2025, and 62.5 percent of her victories have come via unanimous decision. After steamrolling her way to her three medals so far in 2025, she now turns her attention to the biggest competition of the year, the 2025 World Boxing Championships, with plenty of momentum on her side. While she has set a standard throughout the year, her mission is clear, and she is focused on returning from Liverpool, England, with nothing short of a gold medal.

"Obviously, the goal we always want is gold, and once I get through the first fight, I build off that momentum," Perez stated. "I have learned from my two silver medals, and while I didn't get gold, I grew a lot more."

Perez emphasized that for her to achieve a gold medal in Liverpool, she must continue to rely on her faith, which she will carry with her each time she steps into the ring.

"I can't put too much pressure on myself, and when I truly trust and believe in my faith, I use that faith to carry me through my competitions day by day, round by round. Now, I will look to carry my momentum from Kazakhstan onto Worlds, and I am looking forward to seeing what God has planned for me.”

Perez made it clear that faith and meditation are crucial for her continued success in 2025, and with her eyes locked on gold in England, her faith is only getting stronger.

Perez's World Boxing Championships journey will begin on September 3, when the tournament’s official bracket draw takes place. There, she will learn her path to gold and see who stands in her way for the prestigious spot atop the podium.

Team USA will be represented by 14 boxers at the 2025 World Boxing Championships, which will take place inside M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England, September 4-14. Each day of the competition will be broadcast live on the World Boxing YouTube channel.
