First Champions Crowned at 2020 USA Boxing National Championships

by USA Boxing

The fifth day of boxing action at the 2020 USA Boxing National Championships in Shreveport, La. was the busiest day yet, with over 300 boxers taking into the ring in the Shreveport Convention Center.

The morning session was actioned packed, as each of the four rings saw 32 bouts take place for a total, with 25 of those bouts being for a national title to conclude the day. 21 of those title bouts were in the prep female divisions, while the remaining four titles were won by our youngest peewee male boxers.

The evening session, while having less bouts, did not lack in any excitement. The youth and elite male boxers that stepped into the ring this evening were looking to clinch their place in their respective quarterfinal bout on Thursday, while our first youth and elite female boxers in select weight classes made their tournament debuts.

Competition will continue tomorrow with junior females, as well as prep and junior male boxers beginning the day at 11:00 a.m., and youth and elite boxers taking to the ring starting at 5:00 p.m. CST. All bouts can be streamed on USA Boxing’s evet webpage
