Draw Set for 2021 Elite Men’s World Championships

The nine boxers set to represent Team USA at the 2021 Elite Men’s World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia found out their first matchup following today’s official draw. Team USA’s first bout matchup can be seen below.

Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Hill, Md.) and Omari Jones (Orlando, Fla.) will be the first Americans to step into the ring. Harvey and Jones will both be making their World Championships debut during tomorrow’s evening session, which is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. EST. Harvey will be the fifth bout in Ring A against Belgium’s Vasile Usturoi, while Jones will be bout 12 in Ring B, where he will face Djo Kayala Engulu of Ivory Coast.

Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Boxing National Head Coach, Chad Wigle (Colorado Springs, Colo.), National Development Coach, Jose Polanco (Colorado Springs, Colo.), National Strength and Conditioning Coach, will lead the team throughout the World Championships, alongside assistant coaches Timothy Nolan (Rochester, N.Y.) and Pete Rojas Jr. (Grand Prairie, Texas).

511 boxers from 87 different countries will take to the rings in the Stark Arena, looking to take a world title. Competition will take place daily in two sessions during the preliminaries and semifinals, with one session for the two final days of competition. A complete schedule, with times, can be seen below.
