USA BOXING ANNOUNCES CLEVELAND CLINIC SPORTS MEDICINE AS THE OFFICIAL MEDICAL PROVIDER DURING 2022 USA BOXING NATIONAL QUALIFIER

CLEVELAND – Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine is the official medical provider of the 2022 USA Boxing National Qualifier held from April 25-30, 2022, at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center.
This year’s USA Boxing qualifier, hosted with the support of Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, will bring over 1,000 boxers from across the nation to Cleveland for USA Boxing’s first national tournament of the year.
“We are excited to have Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine provide its clinical expertise to our event,” stated Michael Campbell, USA Boxing Events and Operations Manager. “The health and safety of our participants is our number one priority, and with the help of Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine, we know that will happen during this tournament.”
As part of official medical provider responsibilities, Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine will provide on-site support during USA Boxing’s morning competitor weigh-ins, in addition to having Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine physicians at every boxing ring to monitor the health and safety of each competitor.
Additionally, Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine physicians will provide diagnostic checks of each competitor post-match to further ensure athlete well-being at every stage of the tournament.
“We’re proud to be teaming up with USA Boxing and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission to bring the highest level of care to all of the athletes who will be competing in this year’s event,” said Paul Saluan, M.D., director of Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine Outreach and Education.
The week-long National Qualifier will see elite boxers, ages 18 to 39, compete to progress to the 2022 USA Boxing National Championships later this year. Additionally, pee-wee to youth boxers (8-17) will gain valuable national experience and ranking points while competing in this tournament.
Attendees can purchase tickets in advance online or on-site at the Wolstein Center box office. Tickets range from $12 for single-day passes on Monday through Friday, to $25 day passes for Saturday’s finals. Children seven years and younger are free. All-session passes are available for $40. Credentialed participants will receive free entry throughout the tournament.
