Meet 3 Reno County Boxing Academy boxers who are ranked in USA Boxing Elite Men’s rankings

Three boxers at the Reno County Boxing Academy in Hutchinson were ranked in the USA Boxing Elite rankings.

All three are under 25 years old. And for one young man, the academy, he claims, saved his life.

Jacob Cox, 24, was ranked ninth in the 86-kilogram men's division. Genny Zuniga, 12, was ranked as the eighth-best 101-pounder in her division, and Johnny Lopez, 16, came in at tied for ninth in the 176+ pounds division.

Last month, the name Samantha Ginithan wasn't well known in the world of amateur boxing in the United States.

But a standout performance at the National Golden Gloves Tournament now has the 32-year-old Las Cruces resident on the map.

Turning dreams into reality: local boxer gets invited to train at Olympic gym

What started as a dream is nearing reality for a Coachella boxer who is headed to train at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center.

Jocelyn Camarillo is an 18-year-old who has been boxing for five years. She holds three National Championships under her belt and is ranked #1 in the 106 lbs division in the USA.

The last title she earned at the Junior Olympics was in July. That match led to an opportunity of a lifetime.

Boxing Championships Puts Trenton in the Ring and on the Map 

Multiple fighters from across the state walked away with belts, victories, and defeats. In the Saturday sun with no clouds in the sky, fighters from all around came into Trenton to prove themselves in the second annual Trenton Mayor’s Boxing Championships at the Capital City Sports Complex.
