Niagara
President#
I've been in the gym since I was 6 years old learning under Billy Hackmer and Jimmy Ralston. Once I was old enough to coach I started and would bring my young fighters all over the district and further to accumulate as many fights as possible. I spent a lot of time with Don Simkin throwing shows, setting up rings, and running tournaments. Traveling all over the country with our boxers. Even driving to Canada for our 2 kids from our 2 respective clubs to fight each other. I look forward to doing more for our district and I have their support.
I have been involved in the sport of boxing for over 3 decades on multiple levels, as a Boxer, a coach and as a Board member. As a Boxer I was able to experience some of the most memorable moments in my life. One such experience was representing the USA Team in international competition and traveling to other countries such as Sweden and Denmark to compete, these experiences had a positive impact on myself as well as the other members of the team. The cultural exchanges we were engaged in while traveling and competing provided a tremendous opportunity for personal growth and learning. Boxing has also led me to travel extensively throughout the United States resulting in meeting new people and building relationships that last a lifetime. I’ve been fortunate to have the same experiences as a coach and running a Boxing program for over 20 years, traveling to tournaments nationally, internationally, and locally.
As a Board representative I have served as Vice President of the Niagara LBC and currently I serve as the President. It is my intent to continue to use our sport of Boxing as a much-needed youth development program, as I have done throughout my involvement in Boxing. Using our sport to enhance the positive attribute of our young people is consistent with what I have done throughout my career as Director of the Upward Bound Program at Buffalo State University for close to 25 years. Like the Upward Bound Program, USA Boxing provides an avenue to teach and guide young people. It gives us an opportunity to provide them with information, knowledge, and life skills that we hope will have a positive impact on their lives. My Interested is to maintain a viable Boxing environment in our LBC that benefits the young people we serve along with providing a positive activity for our communities.
It is my intent to continue to grow the sport throughout our region in all aspects, by increasing the participation of athletes, non-athletes, and spectators. I will continue to promote the benefits of our sport throughout the community and expose those people who are unaware to it virtues. I also plan on continuing to cultivate relationships that benefit our young people with their endeavors outside of the gym by collaborating with educational and job training programs that provide our young people with opportunities that will enhance their marketability as it relates to employment and all positive outcomes.
I look forward to continuing maintain communication with USA Boxing’s National office and with the USA Boxing Community throughout our country on a regular basis to stay current on information to disseminate and implement the best practices of USA Boxing, with the intent to continuously improve on our ability for the Niagara LBC to function even more effectively and efficiently.

I would love to serve on the LBC to bring a new outlook on boxing within our LBC. I’ve worked with kids all through out the city of Rochester for over 10 years. Helping multiple boxing programs and hundreds of children and young adults within my city.

I work along 2 time World Championship and Hall of Fame promoter, Mercedes Vazquez-Simmons. I volunteer my time as a board member for LYD “ Latino youth development” center which is locs on Clinton avenue.
In the spring I also volunteer my time to 4-6 year old coaching Tee ball for the RHYBL baseball program, which is ran by county legislature “ Santos Cruz”. I’m committed to my city and to the youth within it. I’m a current Full Sail University student, going for my bachelor’s in sports entertainment and media marketing. I’ve graduated programs from my church “ Faith Church” located on Elmwood avenue. I would love to bring some new ideals and help the Niagara region, be a strong force in USA boxing.
I have been a USA Boxing Official for over 20 years. I am also a certified coach. I am President of Ring 44 and have donated items to amateur boxing. I was recently inducted into the NYS Boxing Hall of Fame. I was a former boxing writer for a local newspaper and had a column about boxing, in particular amateur boxing in WNY/ Niagara area.

Return boxing to corrections. (Failure to allow & encourage is a slap in the face to our many Niagara correctional and legal volunteers who coach, officiate, and hold offices.)
Treasurer#
I was a competitive boxer for about 7 years with 51 fights. I have won several titles including NYS Golden Gloves 3x, Empire State Games 3x, National Golden Gloves, US Nationals, Ringside World Champion, and Ring 44 Amateur Boxer of the year 2x. I also trained at the Olympic Training Center, traveling with team USA to international competitions, earning a silver medal at the Feliks Stamm Tournament in Poland.
After injury, I am no longer able to compete in the sport I love. I have shared my knowledge as a coach, both competitively and at work with Parkinson’s Boxing. I am currently training to be an Official and I look forward to helping in any way necessary at local events next year.
I have applied to be the treasurer because I feel that is the position for which I am most qualified. I graduated from the University at Buffalo with a major in mathematics. I was a math teacher for 3.5 years before leaving to coach boxing full time. While I was teaching I was also the treasurer for the yearly 8th grade field trips. I was responsible for finding affordable transportation and accommodations that fit within the budget. I was also responsible for keeping track of overall funds and individual student accounts.
I believe my knowledge and experience with boxing and bookkeeping make me an excellent candidate for treasurer.
I am a 2 time national champion, 3 time state champion. I have been involved in the boxing community for 10 years as an athlete and as a coach for 6 years. I have a bachelors degree in exercise sports science and a minor degree in nutrition. I am a certified USA boxing coach, a certified personal trainer, strength and nutrition coach. Currently I own my own training business. I feel I am a well rounded asset to the boxing community. I am passionate about the community and growth that the sport of boxing promotes. I am running for a board of directors position to contribute new thoughts and ideas to our LBC. I have a desire to bring our boxing community to its full potential with the help of the other leaders that are chosen. I feel I am the right candidate because I have the drive, the desire, and the passion to better our boxing community, and will do so by talking and communicating with the boxing clubs and coaches to ensure that we are doing what’s best for our entire LBC.
