I served as the VP, and I’m willing to keep things in order by not taking sides, I will treat every member with respect, honesty and will listen to any ideas a member or coach may have to improve our LBC.
Vice President#
Everyone needs a positive passion. My passion is amateur boxing. Since becoming a member of USA boxing in 2012 and under the tutelage of several seasoned national officials I was able to learn quickly. I am now too a seasoned veteran official and am currently nationally ranked as a level 3 official. Using my 30 year background as a professional property manager of DC Public Housing I believe it is now time for me to give back even more to these athletes as an officer of PVA. I am also a volunteer for my Church, my fraternity Omega Psi Phi and my DC Advisory Neighborhood Council. I'm all in.
As a current member of the board for PVA, I am interested in this position because my advice and guidance has been highly relayed upon with the current President. I have been serving as an assistant to the current President and therefore O feel that I would be a good fit for the position in structuring a better LBC. Creating standard operating procedures for all entities within the LBC and building relations with all parties.
As the current President of my Local Boxing Committee, PVA, I would like to continue serving on the Board with my knowledge and expertise being on the Board and a member for over 30 years, I would like to share that knowledge with the new President that is selected and help foster a better program in support of the athletes and USA Boxing.
Secretary#
"I am writing to express my interest in the Secretary position on the Board of Directors. I have been a Level II Official with PVA since late 2015 and a Project Management Professional (PMP)® with 10+ years in Project Management. I am also active in the LBC and a staunch boxing history researcher with dedicated videos, podcasts, and articles centered on historical boxing. I am confident that my skills and experience in boxing, project management, and communication make me an ideal candidate for this position.
I have always been a fan of boxing, and I have a deep understanding of the sport. I am also passionate about volunteering and giving back to the community. My experience as a Level II Official has given me the skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective Secretary. I am familiar with the PVA's policies and procedures and am confident that I can effectively manage the organization's records and correspondence.
My background in project management has also given me the skills necessary to be an effective Secretary. I am skilled at planning, organizing, and executing projects. I can also effectively communicate with people at all levels of an organization. These skills would be valuable assets to the PVA Board of Directors.
I am also a Lean Six Sigma trained in developing tools to improve business processes in any organization. This training has given me the skills to identify and eliminate waste in any process. These skills would be valuable in helping the PVA improve its efficiency and effectiveness.
I am active in PVA, supporting website development and social media management. My experience in these areas would be valuable to the PVA Board of Directors.
I served in the United States Marine Corps and have the ability to adapt to change, which includes taking into account key challenges that PVA may face in the future. I have a pulse on the boxing world from an overall standpoint.
Last but not least, I have a passion for volunteering and understand that young athletes rely on us as an organization to guide them as they move through the levels of sports. However, we can also be that catalyst for getting them what they need to succeed as amateurs. My commitment and integrity have been staples of my career.
I am confident I would be a valuable asset to the PVA Board of Directors. I am eager to contribute my skills and experience to help the organization achieve its goals. I am available for an interview at your convenience.
Thank you for your time and consideration."
I have been working in the Boxing community since 2014. I enjoy working with the children and Boxing is one of my favorite sports. I am already the Potomac valley secretary and would be honored to continue holding this position
"I have a thorough understanding of the sport because I have loved boxing since I was a young child. In addition, I hold an OIC certification Bronze Coaches certification and have as a level III OFFICIAL I can support my knowledge with my practical experience.
""I have a track record of successfully handling numerous projects at once. I am very organized and effective. I am a good communicator and team player, too.
Coaches and athletes who compete in usaboxing competitions are sponsored me personally.
As a hand laborer to assist officials and coaches who lack technological proficiency in filling out the necessary information for USA Boxing, as well as to train new officials for the sport. Additionally, I assist several gyms in adhering to USA Boxing bylaws and procedures.
My goal is to make sure every athletic that is a member of USA BOXING get a far chance to reach his highest level in USA Boxing. No athletic left behind
Many Thanks
"
Treasurer#
Winner by Acclamation (Ran unopposed)
My name is Brent Bovell and I'm running for the office of PVA Treasurer. I was voted in as the interim Treasurer, after the former resigned. We had a balance of $13,000 in the accounts, and as of 9/1/23, the current balance is $38,000 and growing. I've been a member of PVA for 20 years and my goal is to exceed $60,000 in the next few years. This will allow LBC members to get more travel assistance and benefits. I'm trustworthy and businesslike and on a mission to make PVA, one of the best LBC's in the nation!!!!
Chief of Officials#
I am currently the COO for PVA and I would like to continue serving as the COO. I came on the Board after the previous COO resigned and also in the middle of the pandemic. PVA have just begun to pick up on sanctions and I have not been able to scratch the surface in my position as the COO. I would like to continue with the opportunity to create a better LBC, raise money for the organization and the boxers so they are able to attend USABoxing tournaments with financial help, as well as recruit, train and support Officials in perfecting our duties through following the National Rule Book and ByLaws set by USABoxing to build a stronger team so that we can fully protect/support our boxers and also participate in tournaments as well.
"I have been boxing for over twenty plus years now coaching an official for thirteen years I have work on and with my board boxing committee of Potomac Valley Association I have been a student of the boxing business learning at local, regional, national coaches clinic and official clinic everyone that I can attend.
