Virginia
President #
I began boxing as a amateur in 1966 under the old programs American Boxing Federation (ABF), American Boxing Federation USA (ABF/USA), and USA Boxing. In, addition I competed under USA Boxing on the All-Navy Boxing Team. I have been an amateur boxing coach since 2003. I am currently the owner of 757 Boxing Club were I run a program with pee wee, junior and elite boxers. Under my tutoring and coaching I have been successful in leading many young boxers in the LBC to State, Regional, and National Tournaments with boxers being rank as high as number 1. Currently have the number 2 ranked Intermediate female at 90lbs, number 1 ranked Elite female at 178+ 2022 National Champion and number 7 ranked Intermediate male at 106lbs. Current LBC President guiding New coaches and gym's, keeping the LBC up to date on all changes with amateur boxing, over seeing day to day operations, Bronze level coach.
The reason I am interest in having my names submitted as a candidate for the President of the Virginia LBC is because I believe that my leadership training would be a productive and positive asset to the current LBC leadership. In my preset employment I have learned to bring people together, defuse tensions, and encourage people to work together.
My background knowledge in boxing is extensive. I first became a member of the Virginia LBC as a boxer with coach Dan Campbell (Olympic Coach) with “Team Norfolk Boxing.” Having been away for a brief time from boxing, I was asked by Gloria Peek (Olympic Coach) to assist her assistant coach, Coach Tyler with the youth boxing group. From that time, I have moved on to coach on the national and professional levels. As my love for boxing grew, I founded the “Norfolk Hit Squad Boxing Gym.” What will I bring to the LBC as a leader? I will bring my countless leadership experiences, my knowledge for the sport as a boxer and trainer. My ability to work with others from various backgrounds, ages, and genders.
My mission for the sport of boxing in Virginia is to see that all coaches and athletes succeed.
I, McCallium Lee Davis am declaring my candidacy to serve on the board of my local boxing committee because I have extensive experience supporting youth and my local community. I received award from the US Army for my volunteer work with a local high school and basketball program during my time on active duty. As a former student-athlete myself, I have a great understanding of the sacrifices, challenges and successes that boxers and coaches feel each day. That experience has prepared me to be a member of the board and take on the challenges to improve our LBC and all its members.
Since joining USA Boxing, I continue to be a coach and official supporting boxing events around the country. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Sports Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management, which I use on a regular basis to find ways to improve the overall experience for the boxers in our LBC, and I hope to make things better for USA boxing at the National Level. I pride myself on constantly being a student of my craft and learning new ways to improve the organization and myself. If elected, my goal is to bring the VA LBC together and in turn provide further support at the national level.

I am interested in this position because I would like to continue the efforts that have been set forth as a member of the current LBC Board of Directors, in terms of skill development. By collectively continuing to hone the necessary skills needed to become successful (Coaching and Official education and Safety Issues) the entire boxing program will continue to win.

I am currently serving as the Treasurer and Secretary for LBC 12 (Virginia). I am also a Level 1 Official and a Boxing Coach. My husband and I own Todd's Eastside Boxing Club In Norfolk Virginia. I have always been a big fan of boxing. Boxing is a wonderful teacher of discipline and can be an amazing tool in helping to build social and communication skills as well as building confidence and let's not forget about the importance of exercise. I have seen personally the positive effects that boxing has had on the lives of some of our youth. Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing our youth doing positive things and achieving their goals.
As a mother of 7 children, I know how important it is to keep our youth engaged and focused and boxing allows us to do that.
I am Retired and have plenty of time to devote to my local LBC and am willing to do whatever I can to help LBC 12 thrive. My background is in Hotel Management, where I was responsible for putting together annual budgets, hiring, scheduling, and disciplining a staff of 47. I also handled Customer Service Complaints and dealt with ordering from all vendors which included the art of negotiations for the best products and prices.
I grew up in the Salvation Army where I volunteered for more than 25 years as a Bell Ringer and a cook, feeding the needy.
Service is my contribution to making a change!
