by USA Boxing

After seven action packed days of boxing at the 2020 USA Boxing National Championships in Shreveport, La., the final four for many of the divisions have been set, while 25 champions in the bantam and pee-wee divisions were crowned.

The day began with boxers in the intermediate and junior divisions leaving it all in the ring to box for their place in tomorrow’s semifinal bouts or for a shot at a national title on Saturday, while the remaining pee-wee and bantam boxers concluded their tournament run boxing for the top spot in their weight class.

The evening session’s quarterfinal matchups did not disappoint and set up some top matchups tomorrow for the youth and elite divisions.

Bouts to look forward to tomorrow following tonight’s results include the women’s youth flyweight matchup between Kayla Gomez (El Paso, Texas) and Jadalie Medeiros (Dothan, Ala.); women’s youth featherweight bout of Alyssa Mendoza (Caldwell, Idaho) versus Jewry Rodriguez (Humble, Texas) ; elite welterweight top-seed Angel Perez (Dauphin, Pa.) against Kamakani Waialae (Waianae, Hawaii), as well as Carl Garrison (Balch Springs, Texas) and Donte Layne (Elmont, N.Y.) in the youth middleweight division.
