Shreveport to Host 2021 USA Boxing National Championships this December

by USA Boxing

USA Boxing officially announced today the 2021 edition of the USA Boxing National Championships will return to the Shreveport Convention Center in Shreveport, La., Dec. 5-11.

With the continued detriment of Hurricane Laura and impact from subsequent storms on Lake Charles, La., USA Boxing made the decision to return to Shreveport following the success of the 2020 USA Boxing National Championships held there earlier this year.

“We are sad to once again not be able to return to Lake Charles who hosted the 2020 Olympic Team Trials for Boxing which earned the Louisiana Travel Associations’ Major Event of the Year award.” said
USA Boxing Events Coordinator Taryn Cass. “However, we are very excited to build upon our recent success in Shreveport and look forward to partnering once more with the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission to put on the best event possible.”

“The 2020 USA Boxing National Championship was a huge success at the Shreveport Convention Center, the largest to date, and we are thrilled to have it come back to Shreveport-Bossier City,” said
Kelly Wells, Executive Director of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “With an estimated economic impact of 3.9 million, Shreveport, Bossier City, and the State of Louisiana are proud to host the 2021 USA Boxing National Championships in December. On behalf of the Sports Commission team and Shreveport-Bossier community, I would like to thank the USA Boxing family for entrusting us with this incredible event, as well as the Lt. Governor Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of Tourism, the Shreveport Convention Center, Hilton Shreveport, and the local boxing community. We’ll deliver nothing less than world-class hospitality in sportsman’s paradise.”
Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins adds, “We are eager to once again host the USA Boxing National Championship and welcome some of the best athletes from across the country to Shreveport. We are confident that this year’s event will be another success and look forward to experiencing an athletic tournament of this caliber right here in Shreveport.”

Tournament registration will open October 18 and continue through November 22. Boxers will only be allowed to make one weight change between November 1-15. Any boxer that is placed on a waitlist will have a status update by November 15. More information to come on weight change and waitlist procedures in the coming weeks and be posted
