49th Annual National Junior Olympics Opening Ceremonies Kick off Day 5; First Summer Festival Elite Champions Crowned

The fifth day of boxing at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center in Lubbock, Texas began with the 49th annual National Junior Olympics opening ceremonies, before competition got underway this evening that saw bantam and intermediate competition begin, as well as the first USA Boxing Summer Festival elite champions were crowned.

The night session began with bantam and intermediate boxers looking to make an impression on the judges to keep their National Junior Olympics hopes alive before the youth semifinal bouts took place to warmup the crowd for the elite championship bouts, where 14 elite champions were crowned the first ever USA Boxing Summer Festival Champions.

Another full day of boxing will take place tomorrow, with the first double session of the tournament. The first session will begin at 12:00 p.m. CST with bantam and intermediate bouts, while the evening session, starting at 5:00 p.m. CST, will feature the first junior bouts of the week, as well as the youth finals.
