USA Boxing Team Japan Bound for Final Training Camp

The nine boxers slated to represent Team USA at next month’s Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 departed from Colorado Springs, Colo. this morning to complete their final training camp in Miyazaki, Japan, where thy will be joined by other international teams until July 17. A full camp roster can be found below.

Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.), along with ten additional staff members, including National Strength and Conditioning Coach Jose Polanco (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and assistant coaches Tim Back (Cincinnati, Ohio), Marc Gargaro (Newton, Mass.), Joe Guzman (Buckeye, Ariz.), Jeff Mays (San Antonio, Texas)and Christine Lopez (Rowlett, Texas) will guide the team through the training camp in Miyazaki. Additional staff members attending the training camp include Team Leader Matt Johnson (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Assistant Team Leader Liz Podominick (Lakeville, Minn.), Athletic Trainer Kevin Kotsko (Pittsburg, Pa.) and Team Psychologist Dr. Chris Bader (Fayetteville, Ark.).

Following the training camp, the team will travel to Tokyo to enter the Athlete Village and prepare for the competition, which is set to begin on July 24. A complete schedule, along with additional news, live stream information, results and more will be posted here during the leadup and during the team’s time in Tokyo.
