Elite Women's World Championships and High Performance Update

by USA Boxing

The 2021 Elite Women’s World Championships, originally scheduled for December, 2021 in Istanbul, Turkey, was announced  as postponed until March 2022 earlier this month by AIBA.

With the postponement of the World Championships, the six women who were scheduled to compete at these championships following the World Championships Selection Camp in September, will now compete at the 2021 USA Boxing National Championships.

The six women selected to represent Team USA included 2020 Olympians Rashida Ellis (Lynn, Mass.) and Naomi Graham (Fayetteville, N.C.), as well as 2020 Elite National Champions Morelle McCane (Cleveland, Ohio), Shera Mae Patricio (Waianae, Hawaii) and Arika Skoog (Boston, Mass.), as well as 2018 World Championships team member and 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing silver medalist Amelia Moore (Davey, Fla.).

All six boxers will represent Team USA during the new dates of the World Championships, as well as advance to the 2022 Elite High Performance Selection camp in Jan. 2022.

With these boxers already advancing to the 2022 selection camp, the highest ranked boxer in their selected weight classes will be invited to the 2022 selection camp to be evaluated for additional opportunities next year. A complete list of the weights can be found below.

The two finalists in the women’s 63 kg/138 lbs. weight division will be invited to the 2022 selection camp, where they will be evaluated for one of those boxers to be selected to join the Women’s Elite World Championships team and any additional opportunities for next year.
