2022 Elite Women’s World Championships Draw Set

The eight women representing Team USA at the 2022 Elite Women’s World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey found out their first opponent and their potential path to gold after today’s tournament draw. 


This year’s World Championships, which were originally scheduled for 2021 but pushed back due to COVID-19, begin tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ET with
Morelle McCane (Cleveland, Ohio) and Shera Mae Patricio (Waianae, Hawaii) starting USA Boxing off. 


McCane will face 2021 Cologne Boxing World Cup Champion Leonie Mueller of Germany, while Patricio’s fight bout will be against Bulgaria’s Stanimira Petrova, 2016 and 2020 Olympian, as well as the 2014 World Champion. 



The six other members of Team USA will begin their quest for gold later this week and their first opponent and fight date can be seen below.



The Americans are being guided by USA Boxing Head Coach
Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.), as well as National Strength and Conditioning Coach Jose Polanco (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and assistant coaches Christine Lopez (Rowlett, Texas), Timothy Nolan (Rochester, N.Y.) and Pete Rojas (Dallas, Texas).
