by Luke Santangelo

2023 was a record-setting year for USA Boxing, but the year is coming to a close, so let’s preview 2024 and the events that will hopefully make the upcoming year just as bright.

Here are five events USA Boxing is looking forward to in 2024.

USA Boxing

The world will gather from July 26 through August 11 in Paris, France, for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Team USA currently has five boxers qualified, with eight boxers looking to punch their tickets to compete at the North Paris Arena and Roland-Garros Stadium next summer.

Joshua Edwards (Houston, Texas), Jajaira Gonzalez (Glendora, Calif.), Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Hill, Md.) Jennifer Lozano (Laredo, Texas) and Morelle McCane (Cleveland, Ohio) are the current boxers qualified for Paris and look to be joined by eight more boxers following the two remaining World Qualifiers. The first qualifier will be in Busto Arizizo, Italy, from February 29 – March 12, with the final World Qualifier in Bangkok, Thailand, May 23 – June 3.

The remaining eight boxers selected to compete at these World Qualifiers will be announced following the USA Boxing High Performance Selection Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., which begins Jan. 7.

In 2024, World Boxing, the newly formed International Federation formed in 2023, is looking forward to hosting multiple events next year, including the 2024 USA Boxing International Invitational, the 2nd edition of the international event hosted by USA Boxing, which will take place in Pueblo, Colo. in April. Complete tournament information, including other countries anticipated to participate and the boxers representing Team USA at this event, will be announced in the coming months.

Another World Boxing event to be excited about is the first major event they will be hosting, the Youth World Championships. This event will be the first World Championships by World Boxing and will feature boxers from around the world aged 17-18. World Boxing is currently taking bids for the event, and USA Boxing is looking forward to sending our youth team to become part of the history books in the second half of 2024.

The National Junior Olympics and Summer Festival is the next scheduled tournament and will take place in Wichita, Kan., June 22-29.
