Team USA Set to Clash with Canada at Melee Gala X This Weekend
by USA Boxing
Team USA is gearing up to send six boxers to Winnipeg, Canada, for the Melee Gala X, a USA vs Canada duel. This will be High Performance's first competition since the 2025 World Boxing Championships, where Yoseline Perez took home a silver medal in the 54-kilogram weight class.
Team USA will be represented by six boxers this Saturday, September 27, beginning at 8:00 PM ET. The six boxers are shaped up by three boxers from Team USA's 2025 High Performance Squad, two from Team USA's 2025 Youth High Performance team, and one individual from Team USA's 2024 Youth High Performance team.
Noelle Harro and Marcellus Smith will make their international debut, while Marie-Angelis Rosendo will return to the international stage after earning silver at the 2025 World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem. Marcus Luther will make his international appearance after winning gold at the 2025 USA Boxing International Open.
Making the jump from Youth to Elites are Salim Ellis-Bey and Joseph Awinongya, who each earned a gold at the 2025 Brandenburg Cup in July. Awinongya also won a gold medal at the 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships in the 75-kilogram weight class.
The National Junior & Youth Coach, Edward Fonteneaux, will lead Team USA and will be assisted by Elite High Performance assistant coach Eric Zimmerman.
