First Ever Summer Festival Collegiate Champions Crowned in Lubbock

The second night of boxing at the first ever USA Boxing Summer Festival in Lubbock, Texas was the crowning of the first ever collegiate champions. 


The evening began with elite and youth male boxers taking to the ring to get one step closer to being crowned champion of their respective divisions before the four collegiate bouts closed out the night.
La’darius Bursey (Sherman, Texas), Henry McFarland (Harlingen, Texas) Noe Mendoza (Weslaco, Texas) and Joshua Payton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each earned victories to go down in USA Boxing national tournament history. 


Competition will continue tomorrow at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center at 5:00 p.m. CST. The competition will be open and free to the public, or can be watched on USA Boxing’s free livestream
