USA Boxing announced today Rahim Gonzales (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Danielle Perkins (Houston, Texas) have been named to USA Boxing Board of Directors as Athlete Directors.
Gonzales, who has been a member of USA Boxing for over 15 years, is currently one of 13 boxers on the 2020 Olympic Qualification Team looking to represent Team USA this summer in Tokyo and has won numerous national titles throughout his career.
“I have been a member of USA Boxing since I was 8, and I am truly grateful to continue to grow, learn and flourish under the leadership of the USA Boxing Board of Directors,” stated Gonzales. “Thank you for recognizing my efforts and potential, as well as giving me this opportunity to be part of the Board. I look forward to my position and development as an athlete representative.”
Perkins, the 2019 World Championship heavyweight gold medalist and currently 3-0 as a professional, has been a member of USA Boxing since 2014. The former basketball-player turned boxer is a three-time High Performance Team member, as well as a bronze medalist at the 2018 World Championships.
“Thank you, USA Boxing, for selecting me for the position as Athlete Director on the USA Boxing Board of Directors,” said Perkins. “I’m excited to work closely with the board and providing my personal insight as a former boxer on Team USA’s High Performance Team. I plan to provide quality insight and stand by and for the athletes.”
Both boxers will begin onboarding training in April and begin attending Board of Director meetings in May.
