Team USA adds 4 bronzes to medal tally on second day of semifinals

by USA Boxing

Team USA added four bronze medals to their medal tally, as well as saw six boxers advance to their championship bout, during yesterday’s second day of semifinals at the 2022 AMBC Elite Championships.

2021 World Champions
Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Hill, Md.) and Rahim Gonzales (Las Vegas, Nev.) continued to show why they are the best in the world following their semifinal bouts against Keoma-Ali Al-Ahmadieh of Canada and Cristian Pinales of Dominican Republic. Harvey took all five judges’ cards in route to the finals, while Gonzales came from being behind after round one to take the 4-1 decision.
Roscoe Hill (Spring, Texas), who won silver at the 2021 World Championships, once again used his unique boxing style to take the unanimous decision victory over Ramon Quiroga of Argentina. Hill’s World Championship teammate Obed Bartee-El (Harvest, Ala.) continued his dominating tournament run with his own unanimous decision win against Trinidad and Tobago’s Aaron Prince.

Heavyweight
Jamar Talley (Camden, N.J.) finally got his opportunity to step into the ring, however, it was a quick bout, as Talley won by first round KO within the first 90 seconds of the bout to punch his ticket to the finals. Arjan Iseni (Staten Island, N.Y.), the final American to advance to these finals, did so by walkover over Cuban Herich Cordova.
Josh Edwards (Houston, Texas), Omari Jones (Orlando, Fla.) and Amelia Moore (Colorado Springs, Colo.) saw their tournament run come to an end, however, all three will leave Ecuador with a bronze medal. They join Kayla Gomez (El Paso, Texas), who won bronze during Tuesday’s semifinals.

Today will see the final three women,
Rashida Ellis (Lynn, Mass.), Jajaira Gonzalez (Glendora, Calif.) and Jennifer Lozano (Laredo, Texas) go for gold in their respective finals. Click here to follow all the action
