USA Boxing National Championships Conclude in Shreveport

After 9 days of boxing, the 2020 USA Boxing National Championships came to a close over the weekend at the Shreveport Convention Center in Shreveport, La.
Originally scheduled for Dec. 2020, the rescheduled event became the largest event in USA Boxing history with a total of 1,150 boxers competing over the nine days in 15 different sessions for a total of 1,050 bouts contested. The previous record was at the 2019 Eastern Qualifier in Columbus, Ohio, which had 1,025 boxers compete in 775 bouts across 10 sessions in seven days.
Boxers who won the title in international weight classes in the junior, youth and elite divisions earned their place on the 2021 USA Boxing High Performance team. Repeat champions in the junior division were Sa’Rai Brown-El (Marietta, Ga.) Cornellio Phipps (Oxford, Pa.) and Marco Romero (Shawnee, Kan.). Sativa James (Dixon, Calif.), Abdullah Mason (Cleveland, Ohio), Steven Navarro (Los Angeles, Calif.), Chantel Navarro (Los Angeles, Calif.), and Cam’Ron Patton (Paris, Tenn.) made the transition from junior to youth champions, while Ariana Carrasco (Las Cruces, N.M.), Jesikah Guerra (Victorville, Calif.) and Donte Layne (Elmont, N.Y.) became two-time Youth National Champions. Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Hill, Md.), Shera Mae Patricio (Waianae, Hawaii) and Adrian Rodriguez (Glendale, Ariz.) earned their first elite national title after earning the youth title in 2019.
